The Margaree River is a celebrated river system extending over 120 KM (75mi). Renowned for its sports fishing of trout and salmon, the river holds the title as the world’s first catch-and-release river.
The Margaree is a Canadian Heritage Rivers System (CHRS) waterway. Supported by the provincial and federal governments, the CHRS goals are to conserve and protect the best examples of Canada’s river heritage, to give them national recognition, and to encourage the public to enjoy and appreciate them.
